I knit a dress

Ugh. Okay, note to self. Remember that blocking a sweater can make it grow and grow. Also that garter stitch is extremely stretchy, especially with Bulky weight yarn. And I've got all of the weight of the bottom panel pulling that garter stitch down to my waist. So it's really a beautiful sweater, it's just sized for someone about 12" taller.

Issue is that this pattern Juliet, was written as being huge. I made the medium and thought that was going to be okay, but really I think the small is best. Also that knitting to fit, prior to blocking you can't really do. It needs to look like something that is way to small. Then in the water it is really going to open up. One good thing is I am going to Stitches South and taking an alterations class specifically for too long projects. So I am hoping there is a way to cut and reknit part of this without having to frog the whole thing and start all over. To be honest, that would have to wait for a long time.
So, making a hat as a break. And then will restart the blue Ingenue sweater. I had to rip out the stockinette increases as I was not doing that correctly. The pattern (for raglan sleeve) stated to increase every other row for 18 rows, which I thought meant only 9 increase rows. Which I couldn't understand. Then my friend Erin indicated that you increase 18 rows, but then also do the non-increase row for 18 rows, for a total of 36. Reading patterns can be so tricky sometimes.

I'm finding myself wanting to start another project. Oh, it's hard to keep on track and not get too many things going. But my Pigeonroof Silky Merino is calling my name. Or how about the lovely Posh yarn 100% alpaca from the Feb. sock yarn club.

  1. Beautiful sweater and yummy yarn! I just knit most of a raglan sweater that I had accidentally made about 3 sizes too big. Maybe our sweaters should get together and become baby sweaters. :-P

I can relate to the case of start-itis, too. I keep starting and then ripping out projects. I still have about 3/4 of the second sock of a pair on dpns, waiting for my attention.

As all knitting enablers advise: knit to make yourself happy; you'll come back to started projects when the mood hits you.

Hugs to you, and I hope you're doing well.
